New Beginnings

God has perfect timing; never early, never late. It takes a little patience and a whole lot of faith… but it’s worth the wait.

First and foremost, I want to apologize for how negligent I’ve been. Things have been crazy in my personal life, putting my blog and YouTube on the back burner for awhile. With that being said, I have some big, big, BIG changes happening. It has taken a lot of planning, soul searching, and getting past my fears. TODAY I will be packing up my little car and moving across the country to San Diego, California!

For as long as I can remember I have wanted to be a hairstylist. And for the past year I’ve been living out that part of my dream working at St. Louis’ top salon with some of the best hairstylists in the business! But the second part of “the dream” was to be a hairstylist in California. I’m not sure what it was that has always drawn me there, but California seemed like the place to be. It’s a funny thing because I think I was 15 years old when I decided that’s where I wanted to end up and I had never actually been there! I can count on one hand, specifically two fingers, how many times I’ve visited and both times have been some of my most memorable vacations. Continue reading

28A few weeks ago I had the awesome opportunity to work with Lauren Cram, St. Louis’s local creator and designer of VICTROLA, on the photoshoot for her latest collection. Although her designs can stand alone, once we got deeper into the shoot and I got to know Lauren I loved the designs even more! Lauren is a fun, energetic and outgoing gal but at the same time she created a comfortable, laid-back, and creative environment for us to work in. If this shoot couldn’t get any more personal, Lauren hosted it at her home!

So, who is she? And what is VICTROLA? Lauren is a nationally recognized fashion designer who lives vicariously through the alter-ego-of-a-clothing line that she’s concocted: VICTROLA. Bold, sassy and daring – Her designs take on the character she wishes she could be. And who doesn’t want to be that woman? With her keen eye for lush fabrics, strong silhouettes and great sense of style, VICTROLA is the perfect combination of pure girlishness with an edge. Which is DEFINITELY right up my alley! Long Hair, Don’t Care

Recently, I bought a new hair toy from a wrap ponytail! I’ve really been struggling with the limited hairstyles I can rock with short hair. When I saw that they were only $39, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity!

I’m very pleased with my purchase of the 20″ Synthetic Mochachino to Blonde Ombre ponytail. And I figured I would share a few photos and a “How To” tutorial on how to apply it! Enjoy!

Skincare 101: My Daily Routine

Daily Skincare Routine

Daily Skincare Routine by megcgad

Let’s talk skin! There are so many reasons our skincare is important to our daily routine. First and foremost, skin is the largest organ of the body. That’s right, not all your organs are internal! Did you know the average weight of your skin is 8 pounds? That’s a lot of organ to take care of, especially if we’re wearing it on the outside! And since we wear it on the outside, it takes quite the beating while protecting everything we hold internally. So, our skin should be treated with care and respect. Continue reading

Foodie Friday: Paella

Me being a Foodie in Spain!

Hey there, fellow Foodies!

Bret here, with the second installment of Foodie Friday! I’m super excited to share my first recipe with you guys, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it (and eating it!). This recipe brings back many memories from when I was younger. My family and I traveled quite a bit, and one of our trips was to Spain. While we were there, I had my first taste of Paella. It was delicious and it’s a dish I’ve often revisited because it’s very nourishing, warm, inviting, fresh, and it is GREAT for sharing with others. As I have mentioned before, and will continue to remind everyone, THIS MAY NOT BE TRADITIONAL. But it is my recipe and I love it (I have yet to hear any complaints). So without hesitation, crack open a bottle of wine and let’s get started. Continue reading
