Mardi Gras Spacebuns

So, I’m back in St. Louis. MY TOWN! MY CITY! And we take Mardi Gras celebrations pretty serious around here. So I thought to myself, what is a great way to keep your hair out of your face during festivities while still looking cute AF? Spacebuns! They have quickly become my new favorite hairdo. They take less than 5 minutes to throw up and like it said, cute AF.

The best part about spacebuns is the messier the better. There is no right or wrong way to do them.  I like braiding my pigtails back, but if braiding is hard for you just throw ’em in two simple piggytails!  Continue reading

Summer Style

Summer is here! And you know what that means? Summer music festivals and outdoor concerts! Although Coachella has already come and gone, there are many more festivals sneaking up on us.

But, let’s be honest…outdoor concerts aren’t just about enjoying the music, they’re about showing off your funky fashion choices! Coachella tends to set the standard of what is “festival appropriate.” So why not mix it up a bit with some of your personal style? Continue reading

Spring 2014 Hottest Beauty Trend

It’s Summer time! You know what that means? Time for all those Spring/Summer beauty products to come out and suck us in! But normally when we hear “beauty trends” we think of makeup. But this year’s hottest trend for Spring/Summer 2014 is… drum roll please… High Voltage Nails!
What does this mean? It means bright, fun colors! It also means cool, funky patterns! And Sephora can be your one-stop-shop for all of these. They have beautiful colors brought to us by many different designers, as well as their very own Formula X brand.

High Voltage Nails

Above are a few of my top picks! From top left around to top right:
  • Deborah Lippmann in Maniac ($18)
  • Formula X in Danger Zone ($10.50)
  • Formula X Press Nail Pods ($39)
  • Marc Jacobs in Shocking ($18)
  • Deborah Lippmann in She Drives Me Crazy ($18)
  • Formula X in Kapow! ($10.50)
  • Marc Jacobs in Lux ($18)

The two full sized Formula X polishes have a full coverage glitter effect and the rest have a beautiful high shine finish. All of these colors are great to mix and match with one another! I’ve noticed that aztec patterns have been very popular in the nail world. Or you can always do as I do: paint four of nails one color and the have one a different. Just a fun little way to mix it up.

Two years ago was the Year of the lips. Last year was the Year of the Brow. I have a feeling this year is going to be the Year of the Nails. Go out and have some fun!
